The Department of Pathology performs pathological diagnoses using microscopes on tissue and cell samples from patients. It provides the most important information that allows clinicians to accurately treat patients. Most of the samples were surgical samples from surgical patients. Recently, diagnostic work has been performed using biopsy tissue and various types of cell samples from internal medicine.
In addition, the Department of Pathology consists of histopathology, cytology, special pathology, immunohistochemical pathology, molecular pathology, instrumental pathology, and information management. It provides information that can help with the confirmation of human disease, early diagnosis of cancer, and disease treatment. Recently, with the development of molecular pathology testing methods and the development of customized treatment according to the type of cancer, pathological samples and pathological test results are available. It plays the most important role in companion diagnosis, which has a significant impact on patient treatment.
